A gift from a customer - 1973 book

March 15th, 2010 by admin

Got this great gift for my Birthday from a client/friend from Germany.

1973 book

It’s a book that contains different events from 1973 (the year I was born)
and it delivers the feel the sights and the sounds of that year.
The book included a cd with different tunes from that year, there I found myself a Jewish guy rambling through the streets of Tel Aviv in my French car with a gift from Germany
listening to Classic American tunes and experiencing the fact that we are not
Israelis; French, German etc…but simply human.

Thoughts about My 37th Birthday

March 2nd, 2010 by admin

This week I will celebrate my 37th birthday. The use of the numbers 3 and 7 repeat itself through much of my work. They are also related to a new secret project I’m working on, but that is for next time. In this email I wish to share a revelation and deep insight experience I had around ten years ago.

It was a Friday afternoon and I was working on some sacred geometry sketches. I was enthused by the idea that the whole reality is based on certain mathematical laws represented in sacred geometrical bodies. It led me to the thought – why does creation exists in first place?

I was very tired and my head ached so I didn’t expect an answer. Suddenly, in a mysterious way, I had a vision of the letters of the Hebrew word for experience, HAVAYA. I watched the letters and was surprised to see that the letters split into two different words HAVA-YA meaning - experience G-D. Then it came to me. If the whole creation was in a unity, it could not have the ability to experience anything as it has no relative point of view. From that I draw that the essences of creation is to experience itself and understand itself. We are all part of one force which through us experiences itself and that experience is called – LIFE.

The Ultimate experience of that force is love. That is why we are all searching for it. It is fascinating to see that in Hebrew the word love is composed of the letters H which symbols G-D and the letters A and B which symbols the one that split itself and forms the creation.

We are not humans aspiring to be spiritual but we are one spiritual force that experiences humanity!

I wish you great experiences of love and insight,
David

Key of Magic by John Donne

October 25th, 2009 by admin

The Magic Key pendant contains one of my favorite poems - “Go and catch a falling star”, written by the Jacobean poet John Donne (1572 – 1631). John Donne is known for his metaphysical poetry that he wrote during the 17th century and for the influence his poems has had on writers and poets ever since. His works stand out because of their wit, the feeling of mystery and magic they impart and their intense emotion and wisdom. The first verse from the poem is inscribed at the center of the pendant:Go and catch a falling star,

Get with child a mandrake root,

Tell me where all past years are,

Or who cleft the devil’s foot,

Teach me to hear mermaids singing,

Or to keep off envy’s stinging,

And find

What wind

Serves to advance an honest mind.

Around the pendant appears one of my favorite symbols, the Orborus, a dragon devouring its own tail. For me this ancient symbol represents the magic of the universe that created itself from within itself and that continues to develop and awaken within us the realization of the endless process of rebirth and growth.

The key of magic

Enjoy

Using the Jewelry for self-developement

October 19th, 2009 by admin

I recently had a discussion with one of my friends about self-development and jewelry. He said he doesn’t understand how a piece of jewelry can perform as a key in our self development.  Well, my answer to him and to others who ask me is that the jewelry I do is formed in a special language called the language of symbolism.

Symbols have enormous effect on us as they carry in them inherent meaning. When we are exposed to a symbol with strong meaning, our consciousness slowly transforms to incorporate the symbol meaning.

Take for example the Merkaba prana, which is known as a symbol of the energy field around us. Wearing the Merkaba bring the shape into consciousness a create that shape in our mind. By creating the shape in our mind we encourage our energy field to form in that shape causing balance and harmony in our life.

Merkaba prana

Another example is the ring of Love. The sentence on that ring and it’s name echoes in our soles reminding us of love. Slowly, love gets in our conscious and from there to the experience of love, the way is short.

Ring of love

Healing Jewelry

May 15th, 2009 by admin

Catholics wearing rosary beads or a crucifix and the wearing of wedding bands are only a few common examples of mankind’s tendency to use symbology and jewelry for spiritual connection. The rosary and crucifix are meant to invoke divine protection while the wedding bands, not unique to Christian culture, are a symbol of spiritual connection and, more importantly, commitment. The use of symbology is sometimes taken for granted in our everyday lives.

All things in the universe rely on energy, especially living things. It is with the use of ancient symbols and the correct metals that we can balance the energy of our lives and live them out in a healthier, peaceful, and serene manner.Mankind has used jewelry and symbology since the dawn of time.Fusing the right symbol, right metal and stone, and a certain intent or purpose can do wonders. Working with a unique Japanese metal crafting technique – The Mokume

April 9th, 2008 by admin

The Mokume Gane technique was developed in 17th century Japan, following the example of the layered metal technique found in the “katana” Samurai’s sword. The technique allows forging a metal that looks actually like wood. The literal meaning of Mokume Gane is “Metal that looks like knots in wood”.

The production of Mokume is a long process that requires concentration and exactness. The example that appears in the photograph is the fusion of silver and copper metals. One has to perfectly wash and polish the metal plaques in order to prevent gaps and oxidization in the heating process.

The metal plaques are pressed together between two thick steel plates and then the entire apparatus is put into a high temperature furnace. Due to the fact that the metals are placed under extreme pressure, they heat up and eventually merge. This process is known as diffusion. This requires great concentration on the part of the artist because the most effective way to identify the moment of fusion is observing the shades of red and orange produced by the molded hot metal. The premature arrest of the process will prevent the merging of the metals where as stopping the process too late will cause the melting of the metals, and therefore the destruction of the Mokume.

Mokume step 1 Mokume step 2

After the billet of the Mokume is ready, the process of creating of the textures begins. Creating indentations in the metal and rolling it out creates the effect of knots and wood grain. We must continually re-enact this process, until we receive the desired texture. The use of different metals obviously creates different shades. The most common metals used in traditional Mokume are silver, copper, Shakudu (a combination of gold and copper), and Washiboishi, (a combination of silver and copper).

Mokume step 3

Mokume step 4

Mokume step 5

The use of The Mokume allows me as an artist to master the production of the material itself, and not just the usual process of working with prepared metals as in ordinary silver and gold crafting.

Mokume step 6

Each Mokume jewel is my own exclusive and unique creation that is entirely hand made by me. The process of creating the Mokume entails “intention” - a kabbalistic concept that means concentration of consciousness. It also entails “Samadhi”, a term from Yogic philosophy, meaning the ability to change and create objects on the physical plane by focusing our awareness.

The Mokume rings are widely used as wedding rings, because of the symbolism reflected in the unification of the different metals, expressed in the merging of the two metals into one integrated texture that is simply breathtaking in its harmonious beauty.

The Green Stone Dream

April 6th, 2008 by admin

In 1995, I had a dream that sent me looking for a mysterious green stone:
“A store appeared in one of the alleys. It had a fantastic variety of artifacts including unusual stones. I asked the sales girl for a green stone named “Shamballa”. She said that they didn’t have that stone and showed me stones from different star systems.”

The answer to my dream came that same year. A friend told me about a mumbling beggar who was walking around a street near my home in Tel-Aviv saying all kinds of things… Despite of my hesitation, we went out looking for him. We soon found him. He studied me for a few minutes while my friend went to get him something to eat. Then he said to me ‘You’re the mystic, you’re looking for the stone!’ He yelled ‘Once I had gold; now I have Iron!’

Two weeks later a different friend brought me a copy of ‘The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean’. After looking at this book I understood that this was the green stone I was looking for. It had everything - alchemy, Shamballa, and the great pyramid of Giza….”
Enjoy the cosmic joke!

The Guardian of Eden and the Flower of Life by Kate Raudenbush

October 8th, 2007 by admin

Kate Raudenbush is a sculptor I had the pleasure of coming to contact with a couple of months ago.
She recently sent me photos of “The Guardian of Eden” sculpture she had built. This sculpture was commissioned by the Burning Man project (an immense gathering of art, fire, dance, music and love in the Black Rock dessert in Nevada, USA.)
“The sculpture is an 18 foot tall plasma-cut steel climbable lotus flower.  Those who climb it can recline in its 12 enormous petals and can gaze into a giant mirrored seedpod at its center. At night the seed pod glows from within illuminating those in the petals’ embrace. Below, the sacred symbol of the Flower of Life projects from the center of the flower and into a star-shaped pool of lagoon blue.” Says Kate, “It was a powerful place to meditate, gather in a drum or chanting circle or even get married.”
Today the sculpture is on exhibit at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, Nevada through the end of January.
You can see in the photos here the statue as it existed in Nevada during The Burning man event – in one of the photos Kate is sitting below the progection of the Flower of Life. The other image is a detail of the glowing light below the sculpture.

Kate also wrote: “I can only say that I am overjoyed that the sculptures’ spiritual message of rebirth and enlightenment  will reach the outside world, and hope that the people who interact with if will feel the energy and love that I put into it.
I hope you are doing well and thank you again for your inspiring work.
With love and thanks,

Kate”

You are all welcome to visit her wonderful and inspiring website to view some more of her interesting creations!
